✨ 2025… what a year for Neighbourhood Network! ✨
As we look back on the year, it’s hard to pick just a few highlights because so much has happened — but there is one project that will always stand out…
🌿🐦 The SongBird Survival Garden! 🐦🌿
What started with an opportunity to bring the RHS Chelsea Flower Show SongBird Survival Garden to Bransholme became one of the biggest projects we have ever taken on.
Just a short time before, the outdoor space at the Alf Marshall Centre was very different — a largely unused, hard-landscaped area that wasn’t somewhere people could really enjoy. Then came the opportunity to give this incredible garden a permanent home in our community.
After its appearance at RHS Chelsea, the garden made its way to Hull, where an amazing team effort transformed our outdoor space. Nicola Oakey, Crowton Rowarth Ltd, Roche Civil Engineering, HEY Volunteering, our own staff, volunteers and so many others all played their part in making the garden a reality.
And it wasn’t simply about moving a garden from Chelsea to Bransholme. It was about creating somewhere people, wildlife and the community could enjoy together with bird-friendly planting, shelter, nesting opportunities, a pond and beautiful spaces to explore. 🌱🐦
We were also incredibly proud to become part of A Mischief of Rats, welcoming A Songbird’s Paradise sculpture to the centre and linking another amazing Hull project with our garden. 🎨🐀
But 2025 wasn’t just about gardens…
💙 We delivered and supported Healthy Holidays, helping connect children, young people and families with free activities and food throughout the school holidays.
🎉 We continued to grow the HU7 Youth Summit, bringing young people, organisations and opportunities together and creating a space where local young people could discover what is available to them.
👋 We said a huge thank you and goodbye to Danny, who moved on from Neighbourhood Network, and welcomed Ava to the team another new chapter for us!
And behind every project, event, activity and partnership has been the same thing: people coming together to make something happen.
2025 showed us what can happen when a community organisation has a big idea, a brilliant team and a whole lot of people willing to say “yes, we’ll help.”
From a concrete outdoor space to a beautiful wildlife garden, from youth opportunities to holiday activities, 2025 has been a year of transformation, partnership and community.
And honestly… we’re only just getting started. 💙
